Notes

Notes: Eli had the misfortune to lose his first two wives shortly after he married them. His first wife, Keziah Cannon (sister to Charles' wife, Margaret; and also a sister to Lydia Cannon, mother of Mary Littleton Thurmon), died when she was hurled against a tree by the horse she was riding.

Eli then married Margaret Myers, daughter of Elijah Meyers and Hannah Barnett. She died less than 2 years after they were married, leaving an infant son behind.

Almost 6 years later Eli married Elizabeth Buchanon, who bore him 8 children. They made the trek across the Oregon Train in 1853 with 6 small children, ranging in age from approx. 4 to 12. They settled in Silverton and later moved to Salem, Oregon.
